FAQs for Okta Verify and MFA

NOTE: MFA became mandatory for all Rollins accounts on November 18, 2021.  The FAQs below still apply but you no longer need to opt-in, you simply need to register devices.

List of Questions:

For any question not listed below, check out the "Related Articles" section or click the "MFA" or "Okta-Verify" tag to see more resources.

For up-to-date information on contacting the IT Help Desk see the "Get IT Support" section on the left/top of the IT home page.

What is Okta Verify?

Okta Verify is the smartphone application Rollins uses to provide Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for Rollins FoxID accounts.

What if I already use Okta to login? Do I still need to register for MFA?

Yes. You still need to register for Okta Verify for Multi-Factor Authentication.

I'm using Duo, is that different from Okta Verify?  Do I need to switch?

Duo is another MFA provider that Rollins used to use but is not using now. You need to use Okta Verify to protect your Rollins FoxID.

What if I don't have a smart phone?

Okta MFA supports text messages (SMS) and calls to landlines. If you have any questions about these or other MFA options, reach out to the IT Help Desk (see the "Get IT Support" section on the left/top of the IT home page).

What can I do if I don't have much storage on my phone?

The Okta Verify app is small (less than 40MB) and does not require significant storage - if there are any other apps or files you can remove to make room for Okta Verify, it will provide the best experience and most functionality. If that will not work, you can sign up for text message (SMS) alerts or speak to the IT Help Desk (see the "Get IT Support" section on the left/top of the IT home page) about other options.

What if I have accessibility needs?

If you are in need of special accommodation, please contact the IT Help Desk (see the "Get IT Support" section on the left/top of the IT home page). We are happy to work with you to get your personal device or adaptive technology configured to seamlessly support MFA.

How often/frequently will this ask me to verify?

There is a check box to "Remember me for 180 days" when signing in.  You will be asked to do Okta Verify again after 180 days or if you use a new device or web browser.

What if I don’t have cell signal/reception or wifi/wireless access for my phone?

The Okta Verify app has a feature that lets you enter a code from your phone even if you don’t have connectivity.  If this solution does not work for you, reach out to the IT Help Desk (see the "Get IT Support" section on the left/top of the IT home page) before you travel for alternate solutions.
