How to enroll in Okta Verify MFA

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Instructions for registering via the Okta verify app and SMS authentication are below. We recommend setting up both options so you can get maintain access to your account and reconfigure Okta Verify even after getting a new phone. These instructions begin after you log in to Okta without any MFA options configured.

Okta Verify

  1. Click on Setup under Okta Verify:

  2. Choose if you have an iPhone or Android
  3. Go to the app store on your mobile device
  4. Download the Okta Verify app:
    1. **NOTE: There is also an app called Okta Mobile, you will want to download the Okta Verify app for MFA

  5. Open the app once it has downloaded
  6. Click Add Account
  7. Click Continue to give the Okta app access to the camera and notifications
  8. From your computer, click Next:

  9. Scan the QR code on the browser using your phone

  10. Your Okta Verify enrollment is completed once you see a group of numbers displayed (see screenshot below)
    1. **NOTE: The number displayed is a time-based token that can be used instead of a push - it will change once the teal loading bar at the top of the screen fills (about every 30 seconds):

SMS Authentication

  1. Click on Setup under SMS authentication:

  2. Type your mobile phone number in the text box and click Send Code:

  3. Enter the code that you received in your text message and click Verify
