What is the Teams Chat View?

The chat view shows your individual chats with just one other person, or group chats and conversations in channels. You can start a new chat, continue an existing chat, or add people to the conversation. Click here to see an infographic of the Teams Chat View Infographic.

Description of Options

Chat Use the button to switch to chat view
Start New Chat Enter name, email, group or tag
Command Box Look for messages, files, and more. Or type / for a list of commands
Manage Profile settings Change app settings, change your pic, or set your status
Video Call You need a webcam to make a video call
Audio Call Make an audio call 1:1 or group call with anyone in your organization
Screen sharing Share your computer screen or window to other users
Add people Add people into the conversation, or add participants in group chat
Pop Out chat Separate your one-to-one or group chat into a separate window
Type new message Enter text, format text, attach files, loop components, emojis, gifs, stickers
Send message After writing a message, select the send button to submit your message
