How to generate captions to a recording
Video owners can generate transcript and captions file for videos spoken in 28 different languages and locales. To generate a transcript and captions, follow the following steps.
1. Go to the meeting chat and click on the three dots on the right of the recording.
2. Select Open in order to open the file via Microsoft Stream.
3. Once the recording is open in Microsoft Team, click on Video Settings.
4. Click on the arrow next to Transcript and captions to choose from the different options available.
5. Click on Generate to create captions for the recording.
6. Choose the desired language, and press Generate. Wait until the file is created. The generation time will vary based on media length.
7. To activate the captions in the recording, click on the CC button.
Editing captions and transcript
The recording owner (the person who started the recording) can edit the captions and transcript after the recording has been uploaded to Microsoft Stream.
To edit the transcript:
1. On the right menu, click on Transcript.
2. Click on the sentence you would like to correct and select Edit.
3. Make any necessary changes and click Done to save them.
On the other hand, if you are interested in editing the captions within the video recording, do the following.
1. Click on Video settings and open the Transcript and captions tab. Then, Click on the three dots.
2. Download the VTT caption file, make whatever changes you need to it, and save it to your computer.
3. Once the file is saved in your computer, go back to Video Settings and under Transcript and captions, select Upload.
4. Click on Select File and choose the file that you would like to use.
5. Press Open and then Done to upload the file to Microsoft Stream.
6. Once the file is uploaded, go ahead and either delete or turn Off the previous file and make sure the new one is On.
