Canvas: Providing Custom Availability and Due Dates for Assignments

This article addresses assignments.

Directions

Go to the assignment within Canvas, click Edit
Scroll down to the section titled Assign. If you have already selected a due date, it should appear in the Due field. The Assign to field has a default value of Everyone
Under the Assign field, click the +Add button
From the Assign to drop down menu, select the student, students, or group who need additional time
Note: If a student's name does not appear in the list, start typing the name in the box and auto-complete will locate it
Set the custom due date for the student. Make sure to edit the Until due date to allow the student access up until their extended due date.
- The Available From date and the Until date is the amount of time the student has access to the assignment
This can be repeated for as many students as needed
Click Save
