Create Icons in Microsoft PowerPoint

Create an icon

  1.  In Microsoft PowerPoint, create a new blank presentation


     
  2. Add a new blank slide, select Blank from the Layout options


  3. Click in the Insert menu at the top of the window
  4. Click Icons from the menu


  5. Click the left or right arrows to view by category e.g., Education

 

For a specific search, enter a keyword in the search bar, e.g., books

 

6. Select an icon and then click Insert at the bottom

The icon will be inserted into the slide.

Change icon size

  1. Select the icon
  2. Click on the corner handle and drag out to increase the size 


    To set a precise size from the Graphics Format menu or the Format Graphic Pane:

     
  3. Click in the Graphics Format menu at the top of the window
  4. Enter the size (inches)

 

You can also enter the size from the Format Graphic sidebar.

  1. Select the icon
  2. Click on Format Graphic tab at the top of the sidebar
  3. Select the Size & Properties icon


     
  4. Click on Size arrow to reveal the dimensions
  5. Enter the size for the Height and Width


     

Note: Make sure Lock aspect ratio is enabled (default setting)

Change fill color

  1. Click on the Fill icon (Paint bucket) in the Format Graphic pane


     
  2. Ensure Solid fill is selected and click the fill color drop-menu


     
  3. Select a fill color
     


To change the Fill color from the top menu:

1. Select the Graphics Fill icon



 

2. Then select a Fill color

Save icon

  1. Right click (control-click, Mac) on the icon
  2. Choose Save as Picture…


  3. In the File name field, enter a file name
  4. Select Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) in the Save as type menu


  5. Click Save to your Desktop or Pictures folder
