Personal Property

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to define the College's position with regard to personal belongings that employees may have at the workplace.

This policy applies to all employees, whether faculty, staff, full-time, part-time, or temporary who may be employed by the College.

It is the policy of the College to attempt to assist its employees in safeguarding their personal property while on campus. However, the College is unable to assume any responsibility for loss of or damage to personal property of its employees. Most institutional insurance policies either specifically exclude or have premiums and/or deductibles so high that such coverage is impractical. Given the nature of Rollins College, with access by large numbers of the general public, all employees are urged to use care in safeguarding their property, especially cash as well as personal computers, which are subject to high levels of theft.

Articles of personal property found on the Campus should be returned to the owner, if known, or turned in to the Campus Safety Office. Inquiries regarding lost property should be directed to the Campus Safety Office.

Inquiries concerning this policy should be directed to the Human Resources Department.
