Employee Resource Group Policy

Purpose

At Rollins, ERGs serve as a strategic pillar in supporting the institution’s mission by aiding in the recruitment and retention of diverse talent; fostering inclusion and belonging; facilitating networking, social connectedness, and community building; supporting employee development and capacity building; and helping to inform inclusive policies and practices. The outcomes of ERGs may depend on the individual goals established by each group but may include creating safe spaces for people with shared commonalities to support one another and spreading awareness about various issues. In addition to the above, ERGs create other benefits such as supporting the growth of potential leaders, creating opportunities for mentorship, encouraging innovative and creative programming, and providing insights into institutional culture and social impact.

This policy applies to all Rollins faculty and staff, and is intended to serve the following objectives:

  1. to emphasize the importance of ERGs as a source of community, high-trust, and positive impact in diverse and inclusive environments on campus;
  2. to establish expectations for employees at Rollins who wish to start or participate in an ERG; and
  3. to outline the necessary requirements for and systems of support for ERGs.

Institutional support for ERGs is provided through the Human Resources Department. The Director of Staff Inclusion and Belonging (Human Resources) serves in a coordinating role for ERGs.
