Disable randomized MAC address on mobile devices

Overview

Phones running the Android 10 and Apple iOS operating systems have a new feature that randomizes the MAC address for different WiFi connections. This feature is enabled by default, but can be disabled for specific wireless networks.  This can help with troubleshooting wireless connection issues.

Android:

Not all Android OSs work the same, the instructions below should work for most devices.

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Select Network and Internet
  3. Select WiFi
  4. Connect to FoxNet-v2 
  5. Tap the gear icon next to the current connection
  6. Select Advanced
  7. Select Privacy
  8. Select Use device MAC

Apple iOS 14 & Later:

  1. Connect to the wireless network you'd like to adjust (FoxNet-v2 at Rollins)
  2. Open the Settings app, then tap Wi-Fi
  3. Tap the information button next to FoxNet-v2
  4. Tap on the toggle next to Private Wi-Fi Address turn it off
  5. A privacy warning will pop-up, acknowledge it and save your settings
