About Housekeeping & Pest Control Services
The college housekeeping department plays a crucial role in creating a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Dedicated to upholding high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and order, the department ensures that all facilities support a welcoming atmosphere conducive to learning and well-being.
Key functions of the housekeeping department include:
- Daily Cleaning and Sanitization: Performing routine cleaning tasks in classrooms, laboratories, residence halls, libraries, administrative offices, and common areas. This includes sweeping, mopping, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces to maintain high hygiene standards and reduce the spread of germs.
- Public Restroom Maintenance: Ensuring all campus restrooms are cleaned, sanitized, and stocked with necessary supplies. Regular checks and cleanings are conducted throughout the day to uphold hygiene and comfort.
- Waste Management and Recycling: Managing the collection and disposal of waste from buildings and designated outdoor areas, while supporting campus sustainability goals by implementing and maintaining recycling programs in all areas.
- Floor and Carpet Care: Regularly cleaning and maintaining carpets, tiles, and hard floors in high-traffic areas. This includes deep cleaning, waxing, and polishing to extend the life of flooring materials and enhance the campus appearance.
- Pest Control Services: Collaborating with certified pest control professionals to prevent and address infestations in campus buildings and outdoor areas. This includes routine inspections, treatments, and proactive measures to ensure pest-free facilities, maintain sanitary conditions, and protect the health and safety of the campus community. This vendor is on campus Tuesdays and Fridays at varying times. Pest control service cannot be scheduled at a specific time.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Adhering to OSHA and other regulatory standards to ensure safe use of cleaning products and equipment. Housekeeping staff are trained in handling chemicals, using personal protective equipment (PPE), and following safety protocols to protect themselves and the campus community.
- Response to Emergency Clean-Ups: Promptly addressing spills, leaks, or other emergency cleaning situations. Quick response times help prevent accidents, minimize damage, and maintain campus cleanliness.
By fulfilling these functions, including proactive pest control, the housekeeping department supports a safe and positive campus environment that enhances daily life for the college community. This commitment to cleanliness and hygiene helps foster pride in the campus and contributes to an optimal learning and living experience.
